So we got on the bus for Moto-Hakone, which would finally get us to where the real scenery was. The bus ride up was uneventful, mostly locals getting off fairly close to Hakone-Yumoto. By the time we reached Moto-Hakone, we were the only ones left!
The road up the mountain is pretty wild. Lots of hairpin turns and trees, passing through several small villages, past a few resort-type hotels, but with very little scenery to speak of save for the hillsides above you. Occasionally we’d get a glimpse of the hillsides through the trees, but not very often. We passed a few folks riding their bicycles up the road in some kind of self-torture experiment, and even a few utilizing the stairs(!) and trails to make the hike to Lake Ashi. No thanks!
We finally arrived at Moto-Hakone, and the real eye candy started….
