The next order of business was to make the relatively short walk from Omotesando station, along Omotesando street to Harajuku station, and the entrance to Yoyogi Park and the Meiji Shrine within. No problem.
Omotesando is the 5th Avenue of Tokyo. Tons of Mercedes and Porsches and other high dollar cars lined the streets as their owners shopped at Chanel and all the other stores which we looked into but didn’t bother entering… except for one.
Kiddyland. Amidst all of the high dollar crud was this gem of a toy store. I think five floors worth, including an entire floor dedicated to the Peanuts gang. Peanuts? Is Charlie Brown that popular here? We picked up a few more goodies for the kids and kept on our way.
We arrived at Harajuku station a bit early for the renowned Sunday hijincks I think. At least nothing much was going on that we could tell. Oh well, by the time we’d get back out of Yoyogi park things would start to pick up, but only slightly.
Harajuku Station itself is a bit of an oddity. The European design does not fit in with the surroundings at all, and in fact the terminal is extremely small, and the area surrounding it quite crowded, which I’ll talk about in another post….
