Day 6

Shibuya Crossing

100_2029Well the next morning we put on our walking shoes again and headed out towards Shibuya station, to witness the world’s biggest pedestrian crossing outside the Hachiko exit.

All I have to say is, good lord.  For a Sunday morning the place was utterly full of people just hanging out, and of course, crossing the street.  Just standing there gawking at the buildings with the uber-huge screens was enough to drop your jaw.

100_2032We hung out for a few minutes, watched the lights change and the mass of people cross the street in all directions, and then headed back down to get on the Hanzomon line for the short jump over to Omotesando station.

100_2033Maybe it was a Sunday morning thing but this train took forever to get there.  Then when it did, and everyone got on.  We weren’t leaving.  WTF?  Then I looked down the car and there were five or so station cops trying to get some obviously messed up guy to get off the train.  They’d talk to him for a minute, then they’d leave for a second, then come back.  They did this about four times before they finally got him off the train, and we left….  Yeah.  I imagined the situation would have played out much differently back home….
